Sworn Translation / About Sworn Translation

A sworn translation is a translation provided by a certified translator duly appointed by the Commercial Registry Office of the competent state. Every sworn translation is authenticated, acknowledged in Brazil and in various other countries and has to be officially registered.

Brazilian law requires a sworn translation for every document in a foreign language that has to be presented in court, before public agencies (federal, state or municipal) or before any entity controlled by a government agency.

A sworn translation may also be required by foreign companies doing business in Brazil, investors, rating companies, universities, and in various other situations.

The prices charged for sworn translation are established by the Commercial Registry Office of each state.

Regular Translation

The ability to communicate well, make your counterpart understand your point and most importantly, to establish your credibility and trustworthiness are keys to succeed in business.

Here is a real example: "Qual o papel de um executivo? / What is the paper of an executive?" ((abstract from an international advisory firm's newsletter).)

It sounds terrible, doesn't it? Now, try to imagine how it might affect your conversation with the Senior Managing Director of that US Company with which you are negotiating a contract. Maybe this would sound better: "What is the role of an executive?". On a daily basis, companies are releasing and requesting information back and forth to customers, suppliers, investors, headquarters and others. Technical Translation

Technical translations follow a rigorous process of pre-analysis and preparation of glossaries, in addition to validations with technical consultants.

We maintain an extensive database with the development of translation memories to be checked and kept on file. This leads to reliability, standardization of terms and cost savings.

Revision

AMK truly understands that in many cases a translation work goes far beyond changing the language; it requires an adaptation effort with a linguistic validation methodology using protocols established by the industry. Thus, the AMK translation team relies on technical reviewers who work in specific areas such as medical, pharmaceutical, civil engineering, chemical, automotive, mechanical, telecommunications, legal etc.

Consecutive and Simultaneous Interpretation

Interpretation is a highly specialized job that requires no mistakes, as there is no opportunity to fix them later. The professional must be entirely fluent in the language pair used in order to be able to choose the appropriate words instantaneously.

An interpreter must:

- Be fluent in the language pair.
- Have an in-depth knowledge of the subject matter.
- Have a broad and sophisticated base of general cultural knowledge. In other words, the company that provides interpretation services takes on a huge responsibility, because an interpreter who was not selected properly can compromise conferences, meetings and gatherings that sometimes have taken years to organize.
